Enoch's expletives

Brought to you by Enoch. Some phrases to remember and reuse as often as you wish.

We were letting Enoch pick from his Halloween stash. He picked up the prepackaged popcorn ball. After ripping it out of the package, he held the large ball of goo in his hand and said, "Holy calories!" Holy calories, Batman.

Lately Bella has been very aware of people saying "Oh my G-o-d." She constantly points it out on TV and in person. On a recent driving trip, we were playing the real or fake game. In this game, one person makes up a scenario, and we guess if it's real or fake. Some past scenarios: someone at school brought in a dog (real), someone at school today had a chocolate snack (fake), someone at school has ten sisters (fake). Enoch's scenario from our last round of Real or Fake: someone at school said, "Oh my G I Joe." Fake. But he was convinced that the spelling was real. And that really frustrated Bella who in the last two months has become a spelling perfectionist.

Reaching my goals

Today I cleared off the dresser in my room. Amory commented that it was like a time capsule from the time the babies were born. And at some point I found a piece of paper that had goals written on it to accomplish that day (that day being some day five months ago). The first goal listed was to clean off the dresser. I'm still laughing about that one.

Lost doll

Good thing I took those favorite doll pictures from a few posts ago because Bella lost her favorite doll this weekend. We were at a yard sale, and of course Sarah the doll was with us. The saddest part is that she lost Sarah because she was picking up some Ninja Turtle movies that she thought Enoch would like for Christmas. The yard-sale people were so sweet and let her have them for free because she was trying to do something nice for her brother. She was so excited that she forgot about Sarah. By the time we remembered, the yard sale was over, and Sarah ended up in the basket of free toys at the curb. The most amazing part: someone took her home. I told Bella that they must have really needed a doll, and then she asked me if she saw someone with the doll, could she ask for it back.

On a sweetie-pie note: Bella told me that she prayed two times that she wouldn't be sad about Sarah. I guess it worked because she hasn't mentioned it since.

Bella and Barack Part II

Bella was filling out her spotlight survey for church. It had the usual questions: what's your favorite song, favorite book, favorite color. So I was looking at her responses trying to see if I needed to translate any of them for the primary presidency. I was going along checking the answers, and I couldn't figure out what she had filled in the blank for "Who's your favorite prophet?" When I asked her who it was, she said, "I didn't know how to spell Barack Obama." She then explained that she liked him because his dad died when he was little, and his mom made him work really hard in school. I guess we still need to work on explaining separation of church and state. We're also still working on separation of Santa Claus and Jesus. Both of whom are prayed for regularly in family prayers.

Side note: I just had to say out loud, "No handstands in time out." Who says that?

Warning: this is a poop story

So I looked outside today, and Enoch was squatting over a bucket. It was obvious what he was doing, but I still felt compelled to ask. And to top it all off, he stood up and flailed the bucket around after to "clean" it out. And for some reason Bella was standing beside him watching, as if she approved of this clever idea. Why come into the house to do your business when you have a perfectly good bucket handy? They were mad at me when I said we were throwing that bucket away.

A visit with KY grandparents

Grandma Skeeter and Grandpa Ed came down from KY last week. Skeeter helped us with a massive project, recovering our new-to-us couch. It was great to have someone here with lots of couch covering experience. There were many times that I felt like someone poured concrete around my brain when it came to thinking through the steps of recovering the couch, but she pushed through my slow moments. And we are so excited about the results. Thank you, Skeeter! And thanks to Grandpa Ed for supporting Operation Couch Recover.

And, no, I'm not joking. They go everywhere with us.

Pumpkin babies

Thanks, Celeste, for this idea! Ezra and Creed mostly liked eating the pumpkin.
